Lalindas project

 

Het 2 na laatste bericht op de website ging over een multifunctionele ruimte die werd gebouwd in het zuiden. De fotos toen waren alleen nog maar wat kolommen. De bedoeling was dat het gebouw met kerst in gebruik genomen zou worden. Maar Sri Lanka zou Sri Lanka niet zijn als alles volgens plan verliep….

Begin Augustus kregen we de fotos van het afgeronde project. En het kost wat tijd…maar dan heb je ook wat!! De mensen van het dorp hebben zelf ook geparticipeerd in de bouw en zijn erg blij met het resultaat. Bijgesloten de fotos van het eindresultaat en voor de geïnteresseerden nog een uitgebreid verslag van de bouwvorderingen en kosten.

Differences in the MOU and the actual.

 

 

1. The total floor area was reduced by 50 square feet, therefore instead of 1500 square feet the total building is 1450 in terms of floor area.
   

    

   
   

 

2. Cost of construction increased by 152,300.00 than the estimated plan.
   

    

   
   

 

3. Time frame – construction was to be completed by end December 2008. A further extension of six months was required due to following reasons,
   

    

   
   

 

• Personal commitments of the contractor (death of his mother in law, marriage of his daughter etc)
  

   

  
  


• The absence of the site supervisor and my self during the last two months (Dec/Jan)
  

   

  
  


• The personal involvement of the site supervisor on his arrival for his personal construction work
  

   

  
  


• Excessive rains experienced
  

   

  
  

 

 

Work to be completed as at end may 2009

 

 

1. Painting of the school – to be done with the participation of the community – estimated time 30days
   

    

   
   


2. soft landscaping of the surrounding area to convert into a child friendly zone – estimated time period 12 months
   

    

   
   


3. Equipping of the pre School – 60 days
   

    

   
   


4. Commencement of the pre School in the new building – final quarter September after the August holidays.
   

    

   
   

 

 

  Future

 

 

1. The funding to be secured for the library- the present books and furniture will be transferred
   

    

   
   


2. IT training to be transferred into the building, a second computer to be sourced from a donor
   

    

   
   


3. The community is already using the hall and we will also have a meeting on 13th May 2009, when the hall is commissioned the training will begin
   

    

   
   


4. Continuation of the preschool is envisioned through a sustainable model. It is expected that the school will be fully financially viable by 2012.
